The fights in this episode were a joke. Seiya doing a pile driver instead of a rolling crash and the gold saints struggling against mirror copies. It seems that in this version Marin is really seiya sister.

This entire series is a joke. I was willing to give it a chance, thinking they'd have realized their obvious mistakes after 25 episodes. I mean, how can they fail to adapt such a simple plot?

This whole episode is a filler. The point of Mu and Aldebaran's story is to explain why they aren't fighting with the Bronze Saints. And indeed, that was stupid in the original story.
But did you hear Mu's explanation in this episode? He says there's someone "secretly controlling the Sanctuary"... from Star Hill. Except he KNOWS who's behind Athena's attack : that's the Pope. And he KNOWS where he is: in his chamber, at the top of the Sanctuary. So it makes even less sense to not fight alongside Seiya and the others, since the one he's looking for is at the top of the Sanctuary anyway.

The writers are so bad that they failed to fix an obvious inconsistency, replacing it with another inconsistency...
The funniest thing is they could have just stuck to the original plot and it would turn out alright. The Sanctuary is 30 episodes long, give or take. Remove the fillers from the anime, you can easily fill 25 episodes without any new plot. Many battles against a Gold Saint take a single episode or two, and the maximum is 3 iirc.
Instead of being faithful, they decided to add unnecessary fillers which break the consistency of the plot. That's next level of incompetency...
